Fuel up - Feb 26

Welcome to Fuel up Mondays

Last month we talked about how weight gain often creeps up quietly. It is rarely one big weekend that causes it, but small patterns repeated over time.

This month, let’s look a little closer at our daily choices.

One of the most common reasons the women I work with gain weight comes down to habits such as:

• Eating constantly throughout the day
• Drinking calories without noticing
• Portion sizes slowly increasing
• Grazing on healthy foods, nuts included, that still add up
• Eating quickly and not registering fullness
• Restricting early in the day, then overeating later

This does not signal weakness but rather a pattern that has gradually taken hold.

Constant eating keeps insulin elevated, while increasing portion sizes push up total intake even when the food is “healthy”.
Liquid calories bypass fullness cues but still count and eating too fast overrides the body’s natural stop signal because it takes time for fullness to register.

This week, I want to quietly challenge you to do one thing only.

Pick one behaviour from the list above.
Take a piece of paper. andwrite it down and observe it.

Do not try to fix it yet but just notice.

When does it happen?
What triggers it?
How does it affect your energy for movement?

Food and being active with steps are not separate conversations.

When eating is steadier, moving daily feels natural.
Even a short walk after meals has been shown to help reduce blood sugar spikes and regular walking supports better insulin sensitivity and stress regulation.
Over time, that combination supports a healthier metabolic environment rather than working against it.

If one of these habits stood out to you, whatsapp me which one.
I genuinely look forward to reading your replies and it truly makes my day when I realise this message impacted you.

If your focus right now is building consistency with walking, my steps programme is open and designed to fit real life.

Keep stepping and eating better daily,

💜 Jacqueline xx
