How to Stay Consistent During the Summer Holidays

I love to call August, Active August. It's the last full month of summer, when the evenings seem to stretch on forever and getting outside somehow feels a little easier.

Finding a Routine That Fits Summer
I've noticed myself becoming an evening walker, popping in my earbuds and heading out for anything from 10 to 45 minutes to enjoy the cooler air after some very stifling days. One of the ladies in my coaching group found her rhythm in a different way. By simply moving her walk to the start of the day, she doubled her average daily steps from 5,376 in June to 11,569 in July.

It was a lovely reminder that when something really matters, giving it the best part of your day often makes all the difference.

How to Stay Consistent This August

You can look ahead at months like August and all you see is chaos. Holidays, days out, family visits, parties and routines that never quite settle. It's easy to float through the month thinking you'll get back on track in September.

Instead, ask yourself one question:

What is the one thing I'm determined to protect this month?

It might be an early morning walk that gives you a little time to yourself before the day begins. It might be giving up bread because it's the one food that quietly creeps back into every meal when life gets hectic. It might be closing the kitchen after dinner, even if you're staying up later than usual with family and friends.

Whatever you choose, let that one decision carry you through the month. When everything else feels less predictable, protecting one thing is often enough to make you proud of how you've come through it.

Ready for an Active August?

If you'd like August to be remembered as the month you finally got your 'groove back', I'd love you to join us.

When M doubled her average daily steps in just one month, from 5,376 to 11,569. She didn't do it through willpower alone.

She had structure, support and a group of women walking alongside her. If you're ready to make this your Active August, I'd love to welcome you into boost2Move this week.

August doesn't have to begin with another promise to yourself. It can begin with a routine you trust. Whatsapp me for more details

From My Walks & Reads

This was a fascinating read. It felt like unravelling a cobweb, searching for the spider at its centre. It's a thoughtful story about regret, the choices we make and the lives we imagine we might have lived. A good book in the summer months is ideal and beats TV any day when it's bright outside.

My Promise for August

I almost want to skip this section sometimes because I come back and realise I haven't acted on what I wrote. This month, I'm trying post-it notes on my computer screen to keep the important things in front of me.

Every week I share a short boost with practical ideas to help you stay active, eat well and stop starting over.
